Hi, I’m Cassandra Shelton, a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of Charis Haven. My path to becoming a therapist was shaped not only by my education and professional training, but also by my own experiences with therapy and personal growth. Through that journey, I saw firsthand how powerful it can be to have a space where you are truly heard, understood, and supported. That experience inspired my commitment to creating that same kind of space for others.

My work is grounded in a client-centered approach, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to tell you who you should be or what your path should look like, but to walk alongside you as you explore challenges, gain insight, and grow in ways that feel meaningful and authentic. I value honesty, collaboration, and building a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, genuine, and respectful.

The name Charis Haven carries deep personal meaning for me. “Charis” is a word that reflects grace, compassion, and kindness—values that guide the way I show up in my work with clients. Haven represents the environment I strive to create: a place of safety, refuge, and acceptance where people can come exactly as they are. The name is also a tribute to a dear friend of mine named Charlie, whose encouragement and support were instrumental during my journey toward this work. Honoring him through the name of this practice is a way of carrying forward the kindness and belief he showed me.

At Charis Haven, my goal is to provide a space where clients feel supported, respected, and empowered as they navigate life’s challenges. Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. It is an honor to walk alongside my clients in that process.
